Mobile Specification Scoring Methodology
Our comparison scoring engine is 100% deterministic, open, and algorithmic. It calculates sub-scores from verified manufacturer hardware specifications.
Important: Scores are Hardware Spec-Based Only
Scores compare hardware numbers and standards directly (e.g. megapixel count, aperture, battery capacity, charging wattage, display refresh rate, and verified processor benchmarks). They do not claim real-world battery endurance hours, subjective photo aesthetic quality, or real-world gaming frame-rates.
Overall Spec Score Categories & Weights
All devices in a comparison are scored across the exact same categories. Missing categories are excluded for all compared devices, and remaining weights are renormalized to 100%. At least 2 categories must exist for an Overall score to be generated.
Gaming Spec Score
Weight: 35%
70% processor score (common benchmark across devices) + 30% display refresh rate score.
Camera Spec Score
Weight: 30%
55% log-scaled sensor resolution (up to 200MP) + 30% lens aperture speed (f/1.6 to f/3.0) + 15% optical image stabilization (OIS).
Battery & Charging Spec Score
Weight: 20%
60% battery capacity (reference 7,000 mAh) + 40% charging wattage (reference 100W). Linear combination ensures high wattage does not overpower capacity.
Display Spec Score
Weight: 15%
50% refresh rate + 25% ergonomic screen size (6.2"–6.8" optimal) + 15% screen resolution pixels + 10% display panel type (OLED/AMOLED vs LCD).
Best Purchase (Value for Money)
Hardware spec scores never factor in price. The separate Best Purchase score is calculated only when at least two compared phones list prices in the same currency:
A phone offering 90% of the hardware performance at 50% of the cost delivers an exceptional value index.
Tie-Breaking Rules
- Win (> 1.0 point): A phone with a clear lead above the epsilon threshold (1.0) receives a Trophy.
- Edge (within 1.0 point): When specifications are virtually indistinguishable, a phone with a newer verified release date is marked as an "Edge" (no trophy).
- Tie: When scores and release dates are identical or missing, the result is marked "Too close to call".
